Last Minute DIY YLEO Christmas Gifts

BlogPost-Feature

Hey guys! Thanks for coming back. So, I thought I would do something a little different today. With Christmas being right around the corner, (Honestly, how did that happen?! I don’t even have gifts for everyone yet!) some of us may need some last minute inspiration; So I decided to put together a quick little list of some DIYs using Essential Oils! These gifts are quick, easy and made with love. Who doesn’t appreciate a hand made gift for Christmas!? I know I sure love them! Anyways, if you need a little direction or some last minute help, you’ve come to the right place!

Now if you’re like me, you know the struggles of Christmas; Not having any money, not having any ideas for certain people that you have to buy for, and worst of all – Debating so long on what to get people that you run out of time to get all the presents you need. Now that I have my Young Living Essential Oils, I feel that I can make a lot of gifts, with little money, that people will appreciate because I took the time to make them myself.

There are a few different DIYs that I have seen on Pinterest that have really caught my attention and I thought they would be perfect for Christmas gifts. These are somewhat ‘girly’ products, so if you are having trouble shopping for a man, I can’t help ya! (I have enough trouble trying to think of things for my own fiance!) Okay, let’s get to the gifts, shall we?!

I thought we would start with an easy one: Bath Salts. This is honestly the easiest thing!

What you will need:
– 1/2 Epsom Salts
– 10 Drops of Essential Oil

How to:
– Pour Epsom salts into a glass container (Essential oils should never be put in plastic)
– Add 10 drops of your favourite Essential Oil
– Add to bath water and enjoy!

Seriously, it is that easy! And there are SO many essential oils that can be used for all different needs! Here are a few of my suggestions:

Calming – Lavender, Peace & Calming, Valor, Bergamot, Cedarwood
Energizing – Peppermint, Lemon, Joy, Lemongrass, Orange
Cold Fighters – Thieves, RC, Eucalyptus

Honestly – This will be so appreciated by a loved one after a long, hard day. Add some salts to a bubble bath, with some wine and a good book – BAM! Stress Gone!

Face Cream This is one of my favourites! I have made this face cream at least 3 times (With different oil variations) and I have loved it every single time! But this one is easy too!

What you will need:
– 3 Tbsp of a Coconut Oil
– 2 Drops of Purification YL Essential Oil
– 3 Drops of Frankincense YL Essential Oil
– 2 Drops of Geranium YL Essential Oil
– 2 Drops of Progessence Phyto Plus YL Essential Oil

How to:
– Add coconut oil to a glass container
– Add Essential Oils and mix well
– Apply to face after cleansing

That’s it! I love this stuff. All of these oils are great for the skin and each help my problem skin in their own way. Purification is good for problem skin/pimpes. Frankincense is good for scaring. Geranium is good for the appearance of your skin. Progessence Phyto Plus is an oil that is good for aging skin (You’re never too young to start worrying about wrinkles!)

Again, this is MY favourite face cream, but there are plenty of other oils that you could use that would be great for the skin also.
– Tea tree (Melaluca Alterfolnia) is great for acne prone skin and spot treatments.
– Carrot is great for skin rejuvenation and cell regeneration.
– Rose is great for aging skin as well as dry skin
– Lemon is a great antibacterial oil. It also brightens the skin, but you need to be careful when using citrus oils in lotions and creams because when they are exposed to sunlight, they can burn your skin. If you’re going to be out in the sun, I highly recommend skipping Lemon oil.

Pain Cream: Okay, I lied. This lotion would be the perfect stocking stuffer for your hard working hubby! This is a cream that can be used on sore parts of the body after working, exercise, or whatever it is that makes your muscles sore!

What you will need:
– 3 Tbsp of Coconut Oil
– 5 Drops of PanAway YL Essential Oil
– 5 Drops of Peppermint YL Essential Oil
– 5 Drops of Valor YL Essential Oil

How to:
– Add coconut to a glass container
– Add Essential Oils and mix well
– Apply to sore muscles whenever needed

This is another easy one! But this pain cream really does work. I have put it on my sore muscles after a volleyball tournament or game, and the warming, tingling sensation that it gives really helps ease my muscles pain. If you or your spouse are active, you should definitely try this one out!

Room Spray!
Honestly, this one is so easy and super handy to have. We all use those Febreeze sprays, right? These are the same, only without all the harsh chemicals AND you can make whatever scents you like! Its a win-win!

What you will need:
– A spray bottle (Glass or Aluminum)
– Your favourite YL Essential Oils
– Water

How to:
– Add Essential Oils to the spray bottle (The number of drops will depend on how strong you would like to scent to be… As well as depending on which scent you would like to be the most dominant.)
NOTE: Depending on the size of your spray bottle, I would recommend about 10-20 drops in total of oils.
– Fill the rest of the spray bottle with water
– Shake and enjoy!

This gift has only about a billion different combination possibilities! But if I were to make these, here are some of the combos I would try:
– Purification and Lemon
– Orange and Thieves (These scents together remind me of fall)
– Lavender and Bergamot
– Wintergreen and Clove
– Grapefruit and Lime
– Peppermint and Rosemary

Room Sprays

Now onto the fun ones! These ones take a bit more time, and a few more ingredients but they are well worth making!

Bath Bombs! Lately, those Lush Bath Bombs have been all the rage; People go crazy for them. So why not make your own! Its cheaper, and again, you can create whatever you like!

What you will need:
– 1 Cup of Citric Acid
– 1 Cup of Baking Soda
– 1/2 Cup of Cornstarch
– 1/2 Cup of Oil (Coconut, Almond, Grapeseed, Olive)
– 8-10 Drops of your favourite Essential Oil
– Silicone Mold

How to:
– Combine citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch and oil in a bowl
– Add Essential Oils
– Mix well until  a type of ‘dough’ forms (It should have the consistency of damp sand)
*If mixture is too wet, add some extra baking soda or cornstarch
NOTE: At this point, you could add some food colouring if you like
– Put mixture into silicone molds and let set for at least 24 hours
– Once completely dry, remove from mold and that are ready to use!

Here are some of my suggestions of the oils that could be used in the bath bombs:
– Lavender for a calming, relaxing bath
– Eucalyptus for a decongestant if you aren’t feeling yourself
– Orange or Grapefruit for a sweet aroma and mood boost

Again, there are a million different oils that could be added to these bombs. If you can dream it, you can do it! 😉

And last but not least …
Lip Balm! Tell me … What girl doesn’t LOVE lip balm!? I misplace so many of mine, I could definitely use a couple extras to have on hand!

What you will need:
– 1 Tbsp of Beeswax
– 2 Tbsp of Shea or Cocoa Butter
– 2 Tbsp of Coconut Oil
– 20 Drops of Essential Oil

How to:
– Slowly melt the beeswax, shea/cocoa butter, and coconut oil in a glass bowl over a double boiler (A pot of simmering water) to ensure nothing burns
– When all ingredients are melted, stir well and take off the heat
– Add in your Essential Oils
NOTE: If you wanted to make a tinted lip balm, mineral makeup could be added now for colour. (I have also read that Kool Aid powder could be added! I’m not above anything .. Just saying. If I have Kool Aid, I will throw that in there over mineral makeup!)
– Pour mixture into lip balm tubes/glass containers to allow them to solidify
– Once they have sat for several hours and hardened, they are ready to use!

Some of the most popular Essential Oils that are used for lip balms are:
– Lavender (This oil is good for LITERALLY everything so it’s no surprise that it is good for chapped lips!)
– Grapefruit, Orange, Lime, Lemon; These oils are all fruity and would work well for a lip balm BUT! You need to be careful when using these oils and going out into the sun. They will burn your lips so use with caution.
– Peppermint can be used as a natural lip plumper! (And who doesn’t need a little bit of that Kylie look in their life, right?!)

My final suggestion is a grouping of items; A care package of sorts! You could always give a combination of a few of the items above with the same theme. Say “A Relaxing Night at Home” with Lavender bath salts, Lavender bath bombs, and a Sleep Spray made with Lavender and Cedarwood to spray on their pillow before bed! (Made the same way as the Room Spray).

Or A Thieves care package – Because everyone could use a little Thieves! You could include a Thieves oil, cleaner, hand sanitizer, wipes … All of which would be useful to any busy Woman/Wife/Mother.

Thieves

My FINAL suggestion – If you are going to give any of these items as gifts, include the directions on how to make them in the gift somewhere. That way, they can always make that item for themselves or their friends! I love getting hand made gifts with directions; You can always make cute little cards to put the directions on and make them super festive!

Alright guys, that’s it for now! I hope that this has helped you. Maybe calmed some of the ‘OMG-What-Am-I-Gonna-Buy-This-Person’ nerves! If you end up trying any of the recipes above, PLEASE let me know how you like them or even what combinations of oils you used! I always love getting new suggestions!

Thanks for reading! Merry Christmas my fellow Oil Lovers! Chat soon! Xoxox
